Hannan, of Auckland, writ- , ing from Banff, Alberta, Canada, on April 14, says:—"l drop you a line from I this town, in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, up amongst the clouds. It is snowing very hard, all trains are late, snowed up. The K.M.s. Makura had very i bad weather after leaving Auckland on ; March 21. The Governor of Fiji was a I passenger by our ship, and there was a ' gala day at Suva to welcome him. The natives turned out in full dress, or. if you like, without dress, except a few ' leaves, but we could not see much of the' place, ac rain fell in torrents. The j greater part of the town deemed to be i occupied by Indian tailors. The Indian men and women appeared to outnumber j the natives 5 to ]. "'Our next port of call was Honolulu.' To the consternation of our thirsty' friends an excise officer came aboard and i sealed up the bar. To make matter* ' worse for them not a drop could be ' procured on shore. As we were now in ] dry territory only native drinks were procurable. We visited several places of interest. The V.M.C.A. is a live institution there. The managers showed us over. One very large building is run in the interest of the American soldiers. It is a magnificent institution, covering a j very large piece of ground. Dr. Henderson, a Canadian, I preached a sermon fit for St. Paul's, London. The choir wear black, gowns, and the choir girls college caps.
