SOLDIERS' SETTLEMENT VISITED.
BY GENERAL SIR ANDREW RUSSELL. ♦From Our Own Correspondent.) ; TAUMARU?JUI, Wednesday. At the conclusion of the unveiling of the returned soldiers' war memorial on Anzac Day, General Russell wae taken on a brief tour of inspection of the returned soldiers' settlement at Lairdvale. The General stopped at several places and gave the eoldier eettlers an amount of useful advice on dairying and general farming. He expressed himself > as confident that the prospects of the settlement were excellent, and said that • if the eettlers could tide over the preeent time of financial stress they could [be assured of future eucceee. He said he was quite pleased to see and hear the optimistic manner in which the settlers were going ahead with their work, and I thought that the Lairdvale Settlement ! wae one of the best he had seen.
