HOME AND HOME MATCHES. WIN FOB CANTER-CRY. The annual ho_e-aud-rt.iiie rifle matches svere fired on Saturday, April 1. -he condl;lons were twelve men per team, ranges 300, 300. and 000 yards, with seven shots at each range. In previous years these matches were confined to the four centres, hut at the annual meeting ot the Xew Zealand Rifle Clubs' Association, held at Grey'own in February, it was dec-ide-1 to invite teams from the twelve military districts throughout the Dominion. The result was that seven Jistricts entered teams. Walrarapa was unable to get a learn tostether. and Otago could not compete this year, owing lo the Government range at Dunedin not being available. This is the third year that these matches have been tired. The earlier results were:— 1920.—Auckland, IHi; Wellington, 1079; Canterbury. 1033; Otago, H'.os. 1021.—Canterbury. 1130: Wellington, 1115; Auckland. 1079: Otajro, 1072. This year Canterbury again secured first place with the tine score c£ Il3*>, an average per man of just over 04.. Rangitikei-Mana-•watu team i-ame second with 1121, an average per man ot slightly under 03.. Wellington, was third with HIT. The best individual total was put up by Rifleman L. C. Pimm, ot the Christehurch Club, who placed a brilliant score 1103) on the Canterbury cards. The nest best score was by Presi,lent 1' Palmer, or the Han-era Club, who set the main for his team with 101. Centuries wc-e procured by the following:—F. Klchards. Kaiapoi; It. Piper.
