ROYAL SHOW CENTENARY.
(Received 2 p.m.) SYDXEY, April 10. The Centenary Show of the B#yal Agricultural Society opened in glorious weather to-day. No effort has been spared to make the occasion a marked success. The prize money is on a lavish scale, and the entries constitute a record, aggregating nearly 10,000. The city is crowded with country visitors, and the attendance was exceptionally large for the opening day. In the class Jersey bull under two years the Agricultural Department's Aster's Diamond King, recently imported from New Zealand, took first prize. Mr. Tapp (secretary of the New Zealand Jersey Breeders' Association, who was judge, said the exhibits in this breed hardly reached the New Zealand standard,'but except in several instances the yearlings were as good as any he had seen this year The features of the show are that the State and district exhibits are reflecting a good season. To mark the centenary of the society a silver medal is being awarded to every champion, a bronze medal to every reserve champion, and special cups and trophies are also being given in certain classes. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
