ORPHAN FUND.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —'Might I suggest an easy method of picking up a few hundred pounds toward this most deserving funds? Every day at midday a chain of pennies should be- started "oy the Deputy-fMayor at Wellesley Street, working towards the wiarves, where his Worship might be asked to lay- the last penny of tho day. By this means I reckon that £80 or £90 could daih- be rako-d in, and if the coin stipulated should .be a threepenny piece the iproeeeds of the -completed chain <botween the points would l>n increased about sixfold. Additional zest mi<rht l>e I given to the project by inviting the j other business centres to compete with Queen Street.—l am, etc., L.O.P.S.
