PRICE OF DIAMONDS.
NO FEAR OF PANIC. ißy Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Leading jewellers claim that Soutli African cabled information regarding the condition of the diamond market is misleading. The diamond market in Europe at the present time is stagnant owing to economic conditions, but in state that there has been a collapse is contrary to fact. There baa been no recent appreciable drop in the price of diamonds despite the fact that ttie demand has fallen off. The action of de Beers in retrenching will prevent the output exceeding the market's demands, and the value of diamonds in the market held by private people will be upheld, thus preventing a financial crisis in the trade.
