COMMITTEE AUTHORISED.
ACTION BY MR. MASSEY. (By Tele;rapli. —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. The Chamber of Commerce conference delegates were entertained t" night by the local chamber, when Mr, J. T. Martin, in the course of a speech, mentioned that the chambers had requested the Government to allow a commission or committee to work with the Government in the matter of taxation. He read a telegram from Mr. W. S. Bennetts, manager of Dalgety's, Wellington, to the effect that Mr. Massey had authorised the ■setting up of such -a committeeJt was now open to the chambers to suggest the names of the men they would like to eit en the committee.
