MELANESIAN MISSION.
NEED FOR FUNDS. An appeal has been made by the Anglican Bishop of Auckland. Dr. Averill, for £5,000, to wipe off the indebtedness of the Melanesian Mission. The matter has been taken up enthusiastically by tile pafUhcs throughout the diocese, and it is now expected that the whole sum required will l>e promised or subscribed. It is stated that the poorest parish in the diocese, contributed £46 at the collection made for the mission funds. The appeal will close in about a week's time.
