SHEARERS AND SHED HANDS.
ARBITRATION COURT AWARD. I REDUCTION OF EARNINGS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", this day. The shearers' shed hands award was filed to-day. The Court was divided, but ultimately ~\fr. Scott concurred with the President's decision. It provides for adding to the shearers' present rates accumulated bonuses, and for deducting 20 per cent from tfte total, leaving the average shearer or shed hand with his relative increase over a period of years on the same scale as workers in other industries, as well as giving him a reasonable allowance to meet the increased cost of travelling and maintenance. If the average shearer's output is taken as 400 sheep per week, his earnings will now be £5 18/6 instead of £(> 15/, a reduction of IC/6 weekly.
