RETAIL PRICES OF BEEF.
A PENNY REDUCTION. TO OPERATE FROM TO-MORROW. The Auckland Master Butchers' Association hae decided upon another reduction in the retail price of beef, and the new schedule of prices will operate , i from to-morrow. The reduction worka out at about Id per lb for all cute ex- ! cepting rump steak, filleted steak, and sirloin of beef. The alteration in prices is consequent upon the recent drop and an anticipated further fall in the price of live stock at the Westfield markets. Last week extra choice beef was sold at Westfield at from £1 14/ to £1 15/ per 1001b, as against.,,. £1 17/ the previous week, and choice ! and prime from £1 9/ to £1 14/, compared with £1 11/ and £1 15/. The new scale of charges will be:— Roasts, from 3d tc 6d a lb; prime rib roaets, 6d; ordinary beef steak, 6d: corned rounds, 7d; corned briskets, 6d: blade roaets, 3d; gravy beef, 3d; mince meat, ad; tripe, 6d: suet. sd: sausages, 6d.
