CLIMBING EVEREST.
THE PRELIMINARY WORK. (Received 11 a.m.) DELHI, July 20. The Everest expfcdition arrived at Tingri on June 10, all well, except Lieut. Ttaeburn, who was invalided back to Sikkim. Mountaineers are exploring the "north-west approaches to Kverest, the remainder making scientific excursions ! westward. An area of 4,500 square miles 'of new country was surveyed, but the monsoons are hampering the work. Tho Thibetan name for Everest is Chomo Lungana.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
