REPORTED BREAKDOWN
IRISH NEGOTIATIONS. PROGRESS NOT SATISFACTORY MINISTERS DEPRESSED. OVERSEAS PREMIERS ASKED TO AID. (By fable.—Press Association. —Copy right.) (Keeelved U. 30 a.vi.i LONDON, .Inly 20. It is reported that the negotiations between Mr. Eamonn De Valera, the Sinn Fein leader, and Mr. Lloyd George have broken down. It is certain that they are not progressing satisfactorily, if an actual breakdown has not occurrec One of tin- clear indications that j the negotiations are not in a satis- . factory position is that the cheery | demeanour of the British Ministers has given place to obvious depression. It is unofficially stated that the visitl ing Prime Ministers have been invited to help to readjust the situation, only General Smuts agreeing. A well-informed authority declares that when the life lines are being thrown i out it may be taken as a sign that the ship is in danger.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) A MAGISTRATE RELEASED. LONDON. July 20. Sinn Feiners have released Patrick Brady, magistrate, of Bantry, who was kidnapped a month ago.— (A. and N.Z.)
