THE PUKEKAWA TRAGEDY.
• ■ VICTIM LAID TO REST. " LEAVES VALUABLE ESTATE. SEARCH PARTY STILL BUSY. There have been no further developi ments in the Pukekawa tragedy. The f I unfortunate victim was laid to rest in i J the Tuakau cemetery yesterday afternoon. Despite unpleasant atmospheric conditions and the long route from the home to the cemetery, about seven and a-half miles, the cortege comprised twenty people on horseback and others occupying four motor cars. The widow was not present, but the two eldest boys were noticeable. Tho late Mr. Eyre, who had been a resident of the Pukekawa district for • < seventeen years, was a comparatively , wealthy man at the time of his murder, - leaving an estate which is estimated ;| to be worth at least J-30,000. ■ | The combined detective and police - j search party continue to prosecute 1 j inquiries in the district. Superintendent I Wright returned to Tuakau by train , I this morning. He was met by Sergeant 1 i Cowan, of Pukekohe, who. nlong with . Constable Thompson, of Tuakau, were r the officers to arrive at the farm after | the murder.
