JAP. MILITARY MISSION.
— . j THE AUSTRALIAN" TOl_£ I ABANDONED. ! (By Telegraph.—Pre.*, AssixdaUon.) | WELLINGTON, Monday, j Early this year the Japanese Government contemplated sending a military mission on a visit to Australia and NewZealand. The mission, it is understood, was to be composed of high Japanese officers, and it is believed that its objects were to encourage the development oi cordial relations between the Japanese and Australian and Xew Zealand Governments, and to remove anything in fjhe nature of misunderstandings that might exist between the South Pacific Dominions, and Japan. Correspondence on the subject took place through the Colonial Office with the Brrt__h Emlbassy at Tokyo, and it is understood that on account of the strong protest lodged by the Australian Government, supported by the New Zealand Government, the projected visit was abandoned.
