THE MINERS' DREAM.
STRIKE PRECAUTIONS. LONDON, February 13. The Cardiff correspondent of the "Westminster Gazette" says that leading trades unionists in South Wales agree that an early strike of miners for the ourpose of enforcing the nationalisation of the coal mines is inevitable. The mine owners say that there will be no peace until the union's lighting fund is exhausted. It appears that the Government has been quietly preparing for a possible strike for several weeks, and has been buying every scrap of coal available and accumulating reserves in Liverpool and other centres. The "Daily Express" states that the trades unions generally will withhold support from the miners if they attempt direct action. An early introduction of the Government's proposals in regard to the control of the coal mines may give an opportunity for a peaceable discussion before the miners' ballot.— (United Service.)
