fTo the V.dliar.l Sir,—l would like to add my "bit" to "what has already been said on this subject. I hare attended St. Matthew's Church all my life, and am one of its oldest choir members. We think the Key. Jasper Calder would be the "right man in the right place"' at St. Mat■fhew's. He is drawing the "people" :nto the Church with his brotherly kindness and splendid sfinnons. "When we are sick or in trouble the "Rev. Jasper" is the first to come to us with sympathy and help. The poor*little children at the Dock Street Mission just love him for hie goodnes-s to them. Ask the srck mothers in Freeman's Bay what he has been to them. Surely the Bishop cannot refuse to meet the wishes of 1,400 church attenders in this matter. —I am, etc., M. ANDREWS. do the Editor.) Sir, —The question ie often asked, "How shall we fill our churches?" The modern Christian, who recognises that the people need a teaoher, replies, "Fill your pulpits." I have been to every church in this city seeking a minister who could, and would teac'a mc human facts, and things I ought to know, and I have found him at last in the person of "Rev. Jasper Calder, and now somebody wants to take him away. Mr. Oa!der was generally regarded as the only one likely to be considered, because he had already made good. He has done what no other man in this end of the Dominion has ever done, and that is to attract into the church a type of person who has never been touched before. The man-in-the-street loves his character, admires his fearless paesion for the tniih, and is helped beyond measure by his cheerful optimism and human touches. He is one of the few prophete • who has honour in hie own country.
