THE VICTORY LOAN.
DOMINION SUBSCRIPTIONS. THREE AND A-HALF MILLIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Acting-Minister for Finance, the Hon. A. M. Myers, states that £460,000 was received by the Treasury during July as subscriptions to the final Victory Loan. The total amount voluntarily subscribed to date is nearly £3,500,----000. As soon as Sir Joseph Ward returns to New Zealand the question will be considered of issuing a formal prospectus in respect of the loan, and stating the exact sum still required. " Heavy obligations make it quite evident that it -will be necessary to takeaction in regard to the flotation of the loan at an early date," added Mr Myers, " and although the public generally have responded to the extent of the amount mentioned above, the compulsory clauses of Section 18 of the Finance Act, 1918, are still operative."
