LAKE FISH RETtrRIONG. BIG SUPPLIES EXPECTED. (Bγ Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, the day. Fishermen, reporting on the return of what is known as "lake fieh" to the Gulf, claim that there are two classes of schnapper—permanent denizens thxtmove about within the limits of the Guli, and migratory lake fish found only in a big hole in the floor of the Guit near Kereta, lhi> side of Coromandel. which fishermen called the "Lake."' Hero the depth of water rangee from l'S to -J fathom.-. It ha* been hare of lah for several years past, but when these "lake" schnapper come in enormous numbers, catches can only be made at spring tide.-. Then the fishing feet goes down and set nets to «?et a " the Bob that can he carried. It will not be known for certain till the sprinsr. but fishermen cay the lake fsh, which have been absentee* for many year*, are oomin? in an'l giving promise ol a bumper season. Th>' enUrped local freezer can deal with 15 to Xi tons daily and store over 10S> tons, hut if pirns are correctly read by the fishermen the capacity of the works will be severely taxed during the coming season.
