WAIHI FINANCE.
BOROUGH WORKERS' OEFER. (By jTclegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Thursday. At a meeting of the Finance Committee of the Borough Council last evening a letter was received from the Bofoujrh Workers' Union to the effect that the union was willing to suspend the recent increase of wages of 1/ a day until such time as the council's financial position has been improved, provided that no members of the union are dismissed. The letter was acknowledged. The position now is that the foreman of works will proceed with the dismissal of nine men in accordance with the resolution of the council in the ■matter of meeting the financial deficit. It was also resolved that the borough valuation be done in the office, and that the town clerk be appointed valuer.
