"MENTAL INEPTITUDE."
THE PICTURE RESTRICTION. EMPLOYEES WILL PETITION. According- to the opinion of Mr. H. Bagnall, "This is another example of the mental ineptitude of the Minister ot Public Health." The remark came out as the City Council last night was discussing a request from picture theatre employees, asking permission to hold a series of Sunday night concerts with the object of financing;a petition to Parliament to have the jlatest restrictions on picture theatres rejjioved. The Deputy Miiyoi- said be had received a deputation of these men, and there was no doubt that the lateet Public Health enactment imposing restricted hours on the shows was causing much hardship. JUr Nerheny gave his experiences only yesterday afternoon, when a woman had come for charitable aid. Her son had come back from the war, and was just lately taken into employment in a theatre. " Then this new restriction had come and he was discharged. This took away her support, and she was destitute. It was pointed out Chat many of the men were unfitted for other employment. The Council could not grant permission for an extended series of these Sunday concerts, but it .rave leave for one to be held next S.unday, and the Sunday after.
