The Council of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Mayor, and other prominent citizens, have made an offer to the Government to raise a fund or £10,000 towards the erection of a national art gallery as a peace memorial "to the valour and 6elf-sacrifice of our soldiers, and to the splendid part they played in the fight for liberty and justice and for a lasting peace."
