The Parnell Swimming Club held a 50 yards handicap race for club members on Saturday last, which was won by A. Pay, A Barker being second aud L. Pilling third
The appalling conditions in connection with public schools, especially in, overcrowding, is to be further brought under pu/blie notice and the administrative council of the Rights of Childhood League, which has made good progress since ite inception, has arranged a public demonstration of the matter by a prominent man in education in the Dominion.. The secretary of the League has reported that official circulars have been distributed, and interesting data on the subject is still being received. Five delegates have 'been elected to the forthcoming congress, pending which Mr W. Murdoch has been elected Mr. T. Woodward, vice-president; Mr. E." Hunter, secretary, and Ci. T Jones treasure.-, with Messrs. H. Hillier and o' Noakes as trustees. i
