Mr. W. J. Ralph was a passenger south by the express. Mr. 0. Nicholson (Mayor of Mt. Eden) left for Wellington by the express last night. Lieutenant J. _I. Caughey (district railway transport officer) has returned from Wellington. The Rev. J. R. Burgin has been appointed chaplain to returned soldiers and organiser for the Auckland Diocese in connection with the Anglican Church. Mr. W. J. McKeown. of the Labour Department. Wellington, has resigned oh account of ilLhealth. He has been in the Department for fifteen years. Mr. A. Donald (Inspector of Factories for Hawkc's Bay, and officer in charge of the Xapier branch of the Labour Department for the past three years) has been transferred to Wellington. Mr. J. W. Collins, first assistant teacher at King's College, tendered his resignation to the Board of Governors after ten years' service on the staff. The resignation was accepted with regret. Mr. Collins has accepted a position in Xew South Wales. Lieutenant-Colonel MacDonell arrivein Auckland yesterday, and is staying at "Cargen.' Other arrivals include •Mr. G. A. Somerville (Wellington). Captain R. King (who recently return-- from the front), and Mr. A. W. Crouch (Toronto, Canada).
