V.M.C.A. WAR FUND.

WORK AT THE FRONT. Mr. Charles Rhodes, chairman of tbe Y—l.C—_ War Fund, w-rites: "Auckh landers throughout the province who subscribed liberally to the recently collected V.M.C—i. War Fund, must have felt pleasure at the quick results obtained from their money when they read the cabled news of tbe good work done by the V.M.C.A. buffets and dugouts during tbe advance on Messines last week. I certainly felt intense satisfaction in knowing that I and my fellow citizens had helped to relieve the ■wounded and support those going for■ward at the moment of battle, for we are told that thousands of New Zealand, Australian, and Home troops were supplied night and day, and that the money for this work on that particular sector was provided by the good people of New Zealand. Evidence continues to pile up that Y.M-C.A. war work in Europe is of great and vital assistance to the army, and makes those who •helped in the recent collecting campaign think it was well worth while.' 3
