AUCKLAND RAILWAYS LEAGUE
The monthly meeting of the Council ■was held on Thursday at the office of the secretary (Mr. R. R. Hunt). Present Messrs. P. E. Cheal (in the chair), G. L. Peacocke, S. J. Nathan. F. E. •Powell, C.E., T. H. Macky, G. FooteMclnnes, Thos. Coates, T. H. Goldie, C. J. Hutchinson, F. H. Mueller, David Nathan, Fred. Clark.
On the que—tion of supporting the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce and Tauranja Railway League in their petition to Parliament to have the East Coast railway constructed, it was moved by Sir. J. H. Mueller, and seconded by Mr. S. J. Nathan, and cairied: "That this Council supports the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce and Railway League in its request to the Auckland members of Parliament to impress on Parliament the necessity of completing railway communication between Auckland and the East Coast district as soon as possible."
Invitations have been sent out to all the Auckland M.P.'s to attend a conference of the Auckland and Tauran"a Railway Leagues for 21st .Tune, to discuss railway matters, prior to the session of larliacient opening on 28th June.
Chaplain-Captain J. W. Shaw delivered I a lecture in the Mount Eden Presbyterian Sunday-school Hall last evening his eubjoet being "Life on a Hospital Pi—p." •ln addition to his interesting discourse, musical items were given, and the evening's entertainment added a good sum to the church organ fund, for ■which tbe lecture waa arranged.
