NAVY LEAGUE.

The usual meeting of the executive of the Navy League was held on Monday, May 12, Mr A. G. Luun, acting president, being lv the chair. The following members were present:—Captain Hood, Itev. W. G. Monckton, Messrs tat. Clair, McKay, Swlnnock, and Cheal, Mesdauies Bloomheld, Streater, St. Clair, Macfarlane, Treacher, Atwoon, Misses Wallace and Esam. Apologies were received from absent members. Gratelul acknowledgments of Christinas greetings sent by mc League were received from Captain Lane, of il.M.s. Carysfort, and Captain Lynes, of H'jM.s. Penelope, aud from Londou, the secretary (Mr Uannon) expressing his willingness to show every kindness to the meu ol the Motor Boat i'atrol who had gone to England. It was unanimously resolved to send a donation of £5 5/ to Wellington lor the Cecil I'aliuer essay prize.

They also said two cases had been forwarded full of clothing for the wires aud children of the men.

Mrs Maguire reported that all arrangements for her children's concert were going on satisfactorily, and that when the new rooms were ready the Entertainment Committee would be prepared to carry out the proposed quarterly socials aud other meetings. It was decided that the new rooms in Snnford's Buildings should be opened on Jutland Day by a social evening for the members The new office aud ro'/ms are now finished, and will te a great boon to the ladle*, there being plenty of room and good light.

Mr Carter, convener of the Education Committee, reiiorted that the Education Board had refused permission for the hon. lecturer to give a lecture once a year to the different schools, and suggested another nlan Tor drawing the children together, which will be carried out shortly.

The Publicity Committee reported progress In the way of advertising the League, and Mr Swlnuock that the gammed seals were now being sold freely and used on all correspondence iv connection with the Ix-ague, and that many of the members bad bought packets for private use.

The secretary of the girls' branch reported they were giving two concerts at the beginning of June, and members promised to help in getting a good house.

In res-ponse to a request from the tNaval Veterans' Association. the ladies had decorated the troop train fur the Twentyninth Reinforcements, and Che cartoons had accompanied tbe men to camp. Mr Palne. the Instigator of this movement, and the artist, had also asked that the ladies would do this work for every train that went from Auckland, and they had consented to do so.

It was resolved to give five of the Aviation Corps going to England letters of introduction to the London secretary, aud make them all hon. members of the League.

Ten new members were elected, and It was unanimously resolved that the branch leagues should be asked to ser.d a representative to the meeting of the executive every month. It was also resolved to send a very hearty letter of thanks to Mrs Fraser for her kindness to the members of the girls' branch, as she had not only given her house freely for rehearsals, but provided refreshments every nigh! they had met. The girls will now be able to use the room of the League for this purpose. They are still doing valuable work for the parent League.
