RETURNED SOLDIERS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Being anxious to assist those who liavo so nobly risked their lives for the Empire. I employed one. The job was a permanent, clean one at full union rates. At the time of engagement his gratefulness was without bounds. He rolled up at the appointed time, and quietly disappeared without any explanation, f have very strong sympathy for soldiers who have been invalided, but we must not overlook the fact that there are among the returned soldiers some men who are not "playing the game" sinci their return, and it is to be hoped that such men will not be allowed to sponge on patriotic funds. —1 am. etc., EMPLOYER.
