TAUBE'S FLIGHT ACROSS THE CHANNEL.

BOMBS DROP HARMLESSLY INTO SEA. RETREATS BEFORE ATTACK OF BRITISH 'PLANES. LONDON, March 21A Taube aeroplane flying over Deal attempted to drop bombs on the shipping. The missiles, however, fell harmlessly into the sea. The Taubc flew at a height of 3,000 feet above Deal. Tlie~Admiralty patrol fired upon it and a dozen British aeroplanes were soon pursuing the Taubc, which was not seen further. When the recent attack was made on Calais at midnight the crew of the Zeppelin suspended flare balloons far below the airship's car, thereby rendering it invisible. They threw down fifty large bombs. One narrowly missed the house lately occupied by the Gcrniau Consul. Attempts were also. made to wreck the railway stations and various • depots. Some of the bombs fell into the harbour, where hospital ships were anchored.
