UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT.

INTER-COLLEGE CONTESTS. THIS YEAR AT AUCKLAND. This year the annual inter-college tournament of the University of New "Zealand will be held at Auckland. The practice is for the undergraduates' (and graduates') big tournament to be held in a different university centre each year, so that it is four years since the contests were last held in Auckland. The tournament comprises tennis championships, field athletics, and the annual inter-college debate. The party of visiting students will number about sixty, and arrangements have been made for them to be billeted among the local students. They will arrive in Auckland on Good Friday morning. A formal reception to the visitors will be held at the Remuera tennis lawns at half-past nine on Easter Saturday morning, and the tennis cliampionships will br> commenced at ten o'clock. On the Saturday evening the debate will be held at the Town Hall Concert (•hamber. the subject being, "Should the Principle of Elective Executive be substituted for the Bystem of Party Government at present obtaining in New i Zealand 1" The judges appointed are Dr. W. C. \\\ McDowell, Mr. H. G. 'Cousins. M.A.. and the Rev. I. Jolly. M.A. The sports will be held on Monday. and on Monday night there is to be a moonlight picnic to Takapuna. On Tuesday the tennis unals will be played at Remuera (His I-'xoellency the Governor haa intimated that he may arrange to be present), and in the evening a University dance, at which all the visitors will be present, will be held in the Masonic Hall. The southern students will leave for their homes on Wednesday.
