THE BRITISH LINE IN FLANDERS.
ARMY ASTRIDE THE RIVER LYS. GERMANS HOLD A SALIENT ALONG ARMENTIERES ROAD. (Times and Svaney Sun Services.) LONDON, March 10. "Eye-witness" with the British forces states that the British line is divided into two equal portions by the River Lys. North of the river the ground is broken by several commanding heights. To the south it is a flat and water-logged plain. The line runs from the river a little south of - Frelinghein, through Lc Toquet. Leyhcer, and St. Yves. It then turns sharply *" westward round the foot of a hill about a mile.to the northward, again circling at Wytschate and Messincs. The position represents a great wedge driven in the centre of our line, whereby the 'enemy has placed himself astride the direct road from Ypres to Armenticrcs.
