ALHAJIBKA PICTURE THEATRE. The statutory meeting of the above company was held on Tuesday in the Chamber of Commerce. There was an attendance of about twenty shareholders. Sir Q. It Cooke (chairman of directors) presided. The report and balance-sheet was read and adopted. The following gentlemen were elected directors of the company Messrs W. J. Ralph, J. Sfcanly, H. ii. Cooke, A. Eady, and CoL Bell. The directors' report was to the effect that all arrangement* with regard to the lease and saje and removal of buildings liad oeen completed; that Mr A. White, architect, of Wellington, was preparing plans for an up-to-date theatre to seat 1,000: and the aim of the directors was to make it the most comfortable and up-to-date theatre in the Dominion; satisfactory arrangements had been made for a supply of latest fijns, etc.; that over 4,000 shares had already been applied for; and that plans would be ready in about a fortnight, and tenders for erection would be called for without delay upon completion.
