TJrp .Mayor of Hamilton has received notice from the Lands and Survey Department that an Urder-in-Couneil, appointing a nominated Domain Board lias been executed. ;;nu will be published in This week's "Gazette." The news -»rUI be received with frreat satisfaction by the burgesses of Hamilton. I

The Prime Minister has intimated to the Mayor that, as he must be in Auckland at 7.30 p.m. on 3\iesday. le must leave Hamilton at 4 p.m. Arrangements have been made accordingly.

Tbe Waikato Hospital Board, on the recommendation of Dr. Douglas, decided to appoint a sub-matron. The question of the Tamnajnnui Hospital was brought tmder the notice of the Board by a protest from the Taumarunui Borough Council, which stated that tlie Council was of opinion that had the late Uenry Smith not been compelled to undertake the journey to Hamilton, his life might Jiave ben spared. The Council therefore asked that something be done for patients without the necessity of a long and arduous journey to Hamilton. The chairman said that when the Board took over the Ta-umarunui Hospital it was merely as an emergency hospital. If tlie present demands were conceded, large additions would have to be made to the buildings, and an operating theatre would have to be put up there. He denied the statement that the hospital now was wor3e equipped than -when the Government controlled it.

Other members spoke in favour of tlie division of the two districts.

The Board decided to give Taumanimii every assistance in having the southern end created a separate hospital district, provided plans are first submitted to the Waikato Board.

It was decided to recommend that the Department take into consideration the iDanpru-atioTi of a srrper animation fund for hospital employees, also to urge tbe contractor io expedite matters in connection with tbe river supply, as tbe present supply is destroying all linen.
