AUCKLAND EMPLOYERS' PROTEST.
A meeting of the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association passed the following resolution in connection with the proposed shipping agreement:—"That this association, on behalf.of the employers of labour in the Auckland provincial district, most strongly protest against any agreement bcin;; made between shipping companies and the Federation of Labour for the purpose of excluding free labourers, and considers that any such ag-eenvnt would be a gross injustice not only to all employers and business men, but also to a large section of rational and law-abiding workers throughout the Dominion. It further considers that such an agreement would have a far-reaching e.ffect. to the serious detriment of the commercial >md industrial prosperity of the country."
The following resolution -was passed by a meeting of the Auckland master painters Inst evening-. "That this meeting of Auckland master painters emphatically protests aprainst the proposed agreement between the shipping companies and the Federation of Labour excluding free labour, and considers thati such action would have a most destructive effect un labour conditions throughout the Dominion."
