The steamer Poonbar, from Glasgow for Sydney, has arrived at Holyhead with her machinery deranged. The German Budget Bill, providing for the army increases, has been read a third time in the Reichstag. F. Wootton, the crack jockey, who has been ill with a severe throat affection, has resumed riding. Lord Haldane (Lord Chancellor) has been made a Knight of the Thistle. There is some talk in Adelaide cricketing circles of a team touring New Zealand. During the Budget debate Mr Pretyman and Mr Bonxtr Law vigorously attacked the laud taxes. Mr Lloyd George, in defending them, announced that the valuation of the country would be completed this year.
