TRAINER AND BOOKIE.
(Received 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 29. James Patrick Hayes, trainer, sued George William Smith, a bookmaker, of Leeds, for slander in calling the plaintiff a blackmailer. * Hayes' counsel admitted that his client was warned off the course in Tasmania and was subsequently reinstated. •Smith employed Hayes as r. trainer, but quarrelled with him. A verdict was returned for the defendant; while Smith obtained £5 damages on a counter charge.
