MOUNT ALBERT.

The Mount Albert Borough Council met last night, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr at 'J- Coyle), Messrs P. J. H. Ellisdon, C. Harris, T. B. Clay, T. Freeman, S. Cleary, and J. Astley. Compulsory Tram Stop.—ln connection with the Council's desire that a, compulsory tram stop should be constituted at the junction of the main road and Western Springs Road for the safety of the children attending the school near by, the manager of the Tramways Company wrote that he did not see the necessity for sncli a stop, as there was no road opposite the Western Springs Road, and consequently the children hud. no need to .cross the tramway, at that

point. It the request were granted, Mr Walklate remarked;—similar stops would probably be wanted at all other schools on. the system. Messrs Ellisdon and Harris urged that the compulsory stop should be pressed for. The letter was received. Meeting the Ratepayers.—la response to' a request from the Mount Albert Ratepayers' Association, the Council decided to call a public meeting for Monday night next, in order that the Mayor and councillors might explain matters in connection with past works and future policy. The "Water Service.—The Council's waterworks engineers (Messrs Metcalfe and Son) reported that the old service reservoir had been repaired. They recommended the scraping of the tank for the removal of some unwholesome moss. The suggestion was approved.
