ONEHUNGA.

The usual meeting of the Onehunga J Borough Council took place last night* Mr IJ. Rowe, Mayor, presided, and all tie" members were present except Cr. Davles, w_o was .absent on sick leave. Vote of Condolence. —On the motion of the Mayor, a vote of condolence with Cr.. Davfcs to the death of ris father was passed unanimously. Tolling Booth.—lt was decided to have two polling booths iv Onehunga for the coming election. The old public hall iv Qneen Street will be the main booth, and the second will be held in the tea kiosk lv Symonds Street, near the Seddon Memorial. Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.—On tie motion of Cr. T. 11. Horn, seconded by Cr. McColl, it was unanimously agreed to support the candidature of Mr John.Rowe (Mayor of Onehunga) and Mi- D. Teed (Mayor of Newmarket) at the forthcoming Hospital and -Charitable Aid Board' election. •Finance.—Accounts amounting to £800 were passed for - payment. The cemetery fund was reported to be £3008 in credit, and there was a' debit balance In the general account of something like £14200. Band Subsidy.—lt was agreed to pay the annual subsidy of £30 to the band, less the amount owing to the Council. Declined.—A letter was received from the Chief Postmaster, Auckland, declining to purchase the old Royal Oak Hotel for a post oflice. It was resolved to join with the Onehunga Chamber of Commerce to" assist the Postal Department to find a suitable site near tie Seddon Memorial on which to erect a new post oflice, the Chief Postmaster having Intimated that as soon as a site has been procured the building will be erected. Building Plans.—On the motion of Cr. McColl, the Council decided that all plans of new buildings must first be submitted to the Council for approval. Rates.—The annual levy of rates for the ensuing year was made In accordance with fie notice of motion given by the Mayor at the last meeting.
