An ordinary meeting of the Remuera Road Board was held last evening, when there were present:—Messrs J. G. Rutherford (In the chair), I. Spencer, J. B. I'aterson, G. W. Murray, C. 11, Furness, and S. M. Moore-Jones. Greenlane Affairs.—A deputation from the Greenlane Ratepayers' Association waited on the Board to 'ask that some action be taken regarding formation of a right-of-way under the railway tracks at Llllington Road, and to urge that the footpaths of six streets of the district be cleared and properly laid down. A sub-coinmittce was nppointcd to investigate tlie legal position lv regard to the land stated to have been set apart for the right-of-way. A deputation from the Greenlane Volunteer Fire Brigade also waited on the Board with a copy of its proposed roles for formal approval. The captain of the brigade, who was present, took occasion to remark that he objected to the clause providing that the captain should be elected by the members of tlie brigade. He held that the captain should be appointed by the two local bodies concerned. A sub-committee was appointed to consider the rules and report to neit meeting. Minimum Fare Cars It was decided to communicate with the Newmarket Borough Council, with a view to obtaining that body's assistance in getting the Tramway Company to put on 2d. minimum fare cars on the l'arnell line during rnsh hours. It was pointed out that when the matter was brought up some time ago the bodies concerned were equally divided, Remuera and Newmarket supporting the proposal, and the City ami l'arnell opposing it. Now that l'arnell hail joined the city, It was considered that there was a much better chance of getting the cars put on, the objectors having been reduced from two to ouc. Tram Service.—The manager, Auckland Tramways Co., wrote, in reference to" a letter from the Board, stating that extra cars from Victoria Avenue would be run at 7 ami 7.15 p.m. on Saturdays. It was not considered necessary to run the cars from the terminus, as, In the Company's opinion, the fourth section oa the line was well enough served. Fire Brigade.—lt wan decided to accept the tender of the Fire Brigade Supply Co. for helmets, belts, axes, end other personal equipment of the ten members of the -Remuera Fire Brigade at £23 8/6. Ratepayers' Association.—The secretary of the Remuera Ratepayers' Association forwarded resolutions passed at the last meeting of that body, nrging the Board to put Greenlane in proper order before the winter set in, and to have Llllington and Armadale Roads linked up as expeditiously as possible, lie also asked for a detailed statement of the allocations and expenditure of the £22,090 loan for road improvement. It was resolved to forward the information asked. Election.—lt was decided that the annual meeting of ratepayers should be held on Monday. May sth, and the general election of board members on May 7th.
