The situation at Dayton (which was inundated last week by flooas) is now normal.

Mr. Orville Wright (the well-known aviator) and the members of his family were cut off by the flood. They fled to higher ground, narrowly escaping with their lives.

Forty persons, who were detected in looting, are awaiting trial by courtmartial.

The'town of Cairo, in Illinois, at the junction of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers (which underwent a similar experience a year ago), is threatened by floods through the rivers overflowing. Soldiers have been dispatched to strengthen the levees (embankments).
