MT. ALBERT.

The Mount Albert Borough Council met last night, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr M. J. Cbyle), and Messrs Turner, F. Ellisdon, -6. O'Leary, J. Astley, E. Freeman, C.' Harris, and T. B. Clay.

Ratepayers' Association.— An application was • received from the Ratepayers' Association, asking that they be allowed the use of the Council Chambers once a fortnight. The application was _ referred to -the 'incoming Council.

H.M.s. New Zealand.—ln response to a request from the Mayor of the city, it was decided to contribute towards the cost of entertaining the officers and crew of HjM.s. New Zealand, .the amount of such contribution being left for the Finance Committee to fix.

1 Emma Street.—Two .petitions were rei celved, each signed by 11 residents of the district. One asked that the name of Emma Street.be changed to Marlborough Street, owing to the inconvenience of having two names in the one street, and the other asked that no alteration be -made. The Mayor said that the Works Committee had suggested, after considering the mat ter, that the Mount Eden Borough Council, be asked- to change the name of Marlborough Street to Emma Street, so that the'whole of the street -would be known by the one name. The suggestion of the committee Was adopted.

Water Supply.—The turncock's 'report stated 41— an excellent flow of water was being obtained at the new concrete trough at 'Morrriirgslde. The Council's waterworks were to excellent working order. The old , reservoir had been repaired and there was Oft of water in both reservpirs, representing a storage of 470,000 gallons. During the month 20 services had been laid and 32 meters installed.
