BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council was held on Thurs/iy evening. Payments amounting to £1,305 in connection with the Council's pumping station at Lake Takapuna were certified to. and a subcommittee, consisting of Councillors Campbell, King, and the Mayor, was set up to effect a final settlement regarding the ConnciTs position in reference to the formation, grading, metalling, and dedication of O'Shea Terrace, as per terms of the agreement. A letter expressing appreciation of the past servfc-es of the late Town Clerfc (Mr. A. L. Whltei was drafted, to be forwarded on to that gentleman. The Mayor incidentally referred to the progress of the loan works during the last twelTe months, and stated that everything was now going ahead satisfactorily. It was decided to adjourn the meeting till February 4th. in order to go through the valuation roll..
