December 23. rurtber sensational evidence regarding the murder of Mrs Clarke at Allahabad was given at Aarra yeisterdav. when the trial of Dr Clarke. Mrs Fulbam and the native named Budhtt iwho are charged witli .the cri-me i was continued.
Budhu. who gave evidence, sta-ted that Clark? made some powderod glass by grinding up the giac* chimney of a lamp. He instructed witness to give it to Mrs Clarke, but tn be careful not to put k into tihe children's food.
Subsequently, witness continued. Clarke and Mrs Fulham asked him H he could arrange to ki!! Mrs ("arke. He (Budhu) pn'-Tni-W tn give his reply later. He ar.oke ta fialdiia. arrested with another Dative named Bambal yesteTdav. who replied tb«t he -was unable to do it for a bnisdred rupees, and that he wanted ED ore.
Witness took Sukhia to Mrs Fulham, who conversed with tthe man at great length. Payment beforehand was demanced. bat Clarke promised to pay the money when the work was done. It was arranged that tbe money should be entrusted to Budhu.
About a week later Clarke told Sukhia that he had handed the money to Bud.hu, and added, "Do tihe job ito-night." Witness accompanied Sukh ia'and Rambal to "Hie house of a man named Budhakanrjore on the night of the tragedy. Another man whom Sukhia had found in a bazaar joined them, and Budhatanrjore handed Bambal a large knife. a
Budhu said that they then an went to Clarke's -bungalow. Clarke arrived and removed <the barking dog and then left.
While Bodiju remained outside the other men entered the bouse. Rambal soon returned, saying that he was unable to distinguish berbween mother and daughter. Budhu pointed out the former's bed.
The mmaaned man carried a lamp. Ramba. a_nd Sukhia stood behind tbe curtain near Mra Clarke's daughter Budbakairjore took the la-mp. and the other man gave the woman a heavy cut with the knife. She shrieked, and" then received another cut. which caused her to writhe and roll over.
subsequently Rambal and Sukhia c,amoured for payment, and were referred to Clarke. Witness was not aware whether they were paid, because he «ras arrested.
The case has been adjourned till January i.
