The beach on the South Head, at the entrance to Manukau Harbour, has made considerably, and is now right on the line of the North- Head beacons, and overlapping the Emma Bank. The Horn Spit has also made to the eastward, and is now on the line of the South Head beacons. The Department adds that at present it is impossible to shift the bea-eone with, any degree of safety, and is is probable that in a few weeks the banks 'will diaappear as quickly as they have made. Mariners are warned that the south channel -is -not safe to work at nkrht under present conditions, and this channel should only he. used in the daytime by masters who are frequently trading t-o the port, and have good local knowledge of recent changes.
