B~«h) reported that the supply of shingle on the storage tanks contract was neiw quite esatisfaetory, and the work was besing pu_ftesd on more vigorously than had been the case for some time past. Additional excavation had been done in connection with the storage" tanks detritus chamber, and the construction of the concrete piers had been commenced, but tiie main work of the tanks was absorbing the greater amount of the contractor's energies. The total length of sewer on the main sectlejn, Ponsonby, up to November 23 was 3,340 feet and 850 feet had been concreted up to the springing line of the arch. Little remained to be done to complete the branch No. 2 Portland Road contract. There was about 300 feet of brick arch to be turned up, and several manholes and lampholes to finish up. The'third section of the Hobson Bay contract—the 24-inch sewer-—-as now completed. The report was adopted. HOBSON BAY BEACH. ( A complaint from Mrs. R, C. Carr regarding the exradition of the beach at Hobson Bay, owing to the drainage contracts, was referred to the Works Committee. A COMP-NSATION PAYMENT. The Board decided, subject to the consent of the Harbour Board being obtained, to pay Mr. C. A. Whitney t—e sum of £75 as compensation for the Inconvenience caused by the sewer being erected across Hobson Bay. THE YEAR'S WORK. The Mayor, in congratulating the Bombers on their good work during the year, said it was hopeM to finish the storage tank at Orakei within six months, and as soon as this was done it would be possible to permanently connect Remuera, Parnell, Newmarket, One-tree Hill, Epsom, and about half the city with t_e system. As far as Grey Lynn and tbe otherr districts were concerned, the contracts did not expire until August, 15)14, so that it would be about two years before the whole erf the system was completed.
