A SUDDEN DESCENT.
BALLOONIST'S EXCITING TIME. SAN FRANCISCO, Juno 6. A sensational balloon adventure is reported from Fresno (Cal.). Two men made the ascent, one of whom, "was a professional parachutist. The balloon had not reached a. height of more than a few hundred feet when, owing to its having been improperly inflated, it suddenly started to descend with great rapidity. One man lost his hold and fell into an irrigation ditch, the water saving him from serious injury. His companion, tho parachutist, had his hands lashed to the trapeze in such a way that he could not free them. When finally the balloon landed amongst some trees this man clung with his legs to a branch, and remained in that position until rescued.
