"SELL THE PHILIPPINES."
AMERICAN OFFICERS' ADVICE. NEW YORK, June 6. Colonel Watterson, an American army officer, who has just returned from a European tour, declares that the United States should sell tho Philippine Islands and buy Magdalena Bay, Mexico, as a coaling station. The acquisition of Magdalena Bay, tho colonel points out, must eventually be entered upon, and now is the time for the necessary steps to be taken. It is thought that the purchase of this admirable site for a coaling station could easily be arranged at the present time, as tho revolutionary party in Mexico is friendly to tho United States.
