DUEL TO THE DEATH.
LOAN AND ITS TRAGIC UPSHOT. BERLIN, June 6, The story of a sensational duel, in which the principals were two army officers, Captain yon Garron and Baron Oswald vort Richthofer, has just leaked out. The Baron, it seems, was in temporary difficulties, and sought a loan from yon Garron, The latter advanced him £2000, for which ho accepted his friend's promissory note, remarking that this was merely a "matter of form." The story got abroad, and yon Garron found himself boycotted by his comrades. A few days ago, while dining in a restaurant, he met the Baron, and struck him violently in the face. Bueh an indignity as that, of course, could have only one result, and the duel that was promptly arranged came off on Saturday. The conditions of the combat were that the adversaries were to fight with revolvers at 15 paces, and that it was to be a duel to the death. Several shots were exchanged, until finally yon Garron fell mortally; wounded, and died within a few hours.
