MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Waihi Extended.-—The lode met in No. 2 crosscut has been cut through, and proved to be 5 feet in width. A start has been made to drive east on the main portion of the lode. Abont 18 inches of the footwall looks very promising. The drive on the south-east lode has been advanced 131 feet. At 118 feet the reef whs cut through, and showed 20 feet of stone. The present face shows five feet of stone, with neither wall exposed. New Waitaia.—Sinking the winze from No. 5 level has beeu resumed. The country is excellent, both for progress and values. The north drive at this level is Improving again, solid country coming in on the hangingwall side. In the low level both north and south faces are improving greatly in appearance, the country in the soutii end in particular now being identical with that overhead ia No. 5 level, lying -ivith the reef. About forty tons of ore hns gone through the stamps, and the sands and slimes now In the vats for cyauiding; these should be finally treated at the end of the present weelt.

Handsworth United.—ln the intermediate level, the Irene section, the reel is still fully 3 feet wide, and the quartz is looking more favourable. Tie crosscut from the Handsworth level to intersect No. 1 lead is Ui 116 feet, with good country in the face. The stopes in the Otama section are looking very well, a nice run being operated on now, from which, as per wire, 151bs specimen stone was obtained, with gold showing ahead. Both as regards values and size this is much the best stone yet obtained in the mine, most of it having only a skin of quartz around the gold: The general ore Is also good, and Is presenting a new feature, small dabs of gold being discernible dotted throughout the oxidised .formation. Crushing will be started im"mediately the battery is available, about Wednesday next. Victoria.—The cross-cut South at No. 4 level is in 20ft. and a better class of country has been met with on the west side. So far no quartz has been met with. No. 2 reef has a favourable appearance, but is still disturbed by the splice mentioned in last report.
