LONDON MARKET. _ (Received 1.50 pjn.) LONDON, June S. On the London Stock Exchange today, following were the closing quotations: "W r aihi buyers 58/9, sellers 61/3 j Talisman buyers 48/9, sellers 51/3. OCCIDENTAL CONSOLEDAEED. Mr. J. Caisley (*he new manager) telegraphed this afternoon: "Have broken down Occidental reef; stone mineralised, no gold showing." TAJRUA MINES, LTD, STATUTORY GENERAL MEETING. The statutory general meeting of the Tairua Mines, Ltd., was held at the office of the Company this morning, Mr. J. C. Colbeck, chairman of directors, being in the chair. The report and statements of accounts were submitted, as previously published. Ttie chairman stated that the notice convening the meeting was incorretrt in stating that it was necessary for the meeting to elect directors. The Act provided that the directors should remain in office until the first annual general meeting.
A report dated June 6 was read from the mine manager, stating that the "Western" reef, on which the main rise was being put up, showed improvement in appearance and values. The junction of the two branches of the reef had been risen on, and the ore body in the north end of the rise was about seven feet wide, and carried all the indications characteristic of golden ore in the "Western" reef. On the old eighty-foot level i a body of ore carrying the best visible gold he had yet seen in the Broken Hills was met with. This block was immediately under the one reported (with assays) some time back, and was portion of the "Night" reef, both blocks being available for stoping at once. Preparations for crushing ore were being made, and the belts and mill generally overhauled The chairman said that the report and the state of affairs generally were very satisfactory but it was not prudent to pitch their hopes too high before the battery results were known. ~^ c . manager telegraphed to-day: Selected 401bs. of picked stone; coarse dabs 80ft. level."
