NEWTON PIGEON CLUB.

SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL SHOW. The 23rd annual show in connection with the Newton Pigeon and Canary Club was opened this afternoon, and will be continued to-morrow. The exhibition is undoubtedly an appreciable advance on those held by the Club in previous years, and the entries were not only larger, but the quality of the birds showed considerable improvement. There were altogether 368 entries, including the exhibits of many Southern fanciers. In the pigeon classes there was a splendid advance both in numbers and types. An especially good show of magpies and fantails is to be seen, though a slight falling off in the canary classes is also noticeable. Tho quality of the latter is, however, better than before. The judges were Messrs. J. Moon and W. Richardson (canaries), Mr. G. Ford (fancy pigeons), and Mr. D. Cairns (homer classes). The prize list is appended:— PIGEONS. Dragoon.—Cock, blue: T. Bullock 1.
